How to use Print-On Magnetic Paper

 

Priint-On Magnetic Paper opens up a world of possibilities for both personal and professional use. From custom magnetic business cards magnetic calendars, and invitations, to even creating labels for metal shelves, storage units, whiteboard accessories, learning aids for class, decorations and even just photos. Print-On Magnetic Paper is a very versatile and easy to use with any home or office Inkjet Printe or creating all sorts o eye-catching magnetic items.

 

Just like the rest of our Print-On range, it's extremely simple to use, just print and cut. To help you get the most out of your Magnetic Paper, we have written a short tutorial below.

 

Instructions

Materials Needed:

  • Inkjet Printer
  • Scissors, Craft Knife or Cutting Machine.

 

Step 1: Print

 

Make sure your Inkjet Printer Settings have been set accordingly:

 

PAPER TYPE: Premium Glossy Paper, Label Paper (175g or more) / Thick Paper / Decal Paper.

Maximum Photo Resolution.

 

We advise you to use the manual feed in your printer (not the paper tray).

Print on the white side of the Print-On Magnetic Paper.

 

Step 2: Cut

 

Cut out the image. You can use Scissors, a Craft Knife, or Cutting Machine.

 

The Magnet is easy to cut using scissors, but using a Cutting Machine will be easier for bulk production and more intricate cutouts.

 

Finished!

That's all, these magnets are now ready to use.

 

 

Our Magnetic Paper has a soft magnetic backing so you don't have to worry about it damaging any surfaces.

 

Coating

We recommend choosing an appropriate finish for your magnet to protect the image and smooth the cutout edges. A coating will also help the magnet last longer if it will be moved frequently. Use coatings such as W1 Top Coat, Epoxy Resin, Clear Acrylic Sealant, Clear Polyurethane Spray. This will protect your magnet and allows you to make the finish glossier or more mattified.

 

Ferromagnetism

Certain materials such as iron, cobalt, nickel have higher magnetic permeability meaning the magnet will stick better to them. However metals such as Aluminium, Titanium, Platinum, are naturally paramagnetic and will have a weak magnetic attraction.

 

How can I improve image quality?

600 DPI (Dots Per Inch) is plentyful. However if you want even richer colors and detail, a higher DPI printer will pack more pigment into an area with fewer gaps between the toner (dots). This is often unnecessary unless working on very tiny transfers (miniatures and dioramas), however is noticible side by side.

 

How can I make the magnet stronger?

We strongly advise against making your magnets stronger as it can make it more difficult to remove. However if your magnet has weakened over time, you can rub your Print-On Magnet on top of a stronger magnet to realign the magnetic forces (make sure they are attracting, not repelling).
